Role overview
The Business Development Consultant will play a key role in supporting regional sales activity and managing strategic client relationships. Working closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs), you will help drive new business opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and ensure an exceptional level of client service across the full lifecycle of the relationship. This role combines proactive sales support, relationship management, and operational coordination to ensure clients receive a seamless and high-quality experience.
About the Role
- Support BDMs with preparation for client meetings, including pitch materials, collateral, and briefing packs
- Manage pre- and post-meeting follow-ups with client firms, ensuring agreed actions are delivered
- Conduct initial due diligence and fact-finding activity with prospective firms
- Support re-engagement campaigns and identify new opportunities within existing or dormant relationships
- Coordinate internal resources to support client requirements and next steps from meetings
- Assist in gathering competitor insight and pricing information to support commercial discussions
- Deliver high-level platform demonstrations where required, working alongside technical colleagues
- Maintain high-quality CRM (Salesforce) records across all sales and engagement activity
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
- Support onboarding processes and client transitions, ensuring a smooth implementation experience
- Arrange and coordinate training sessions and stakeholder meetings for new clients
- Maintain ongoing communication with advisers, paraplanners, and administrative teams
- Provide telephone-based support for case queries, escalations, and operational issues
- Assist with complex case handling and ensure timely resolution through internal coordination
- Monitor client activity data to identify opportunities, risks, or areas for growth
- Ensure accurate CRM updates and reporting throughout the client lifecycle
- Build long-term, trusted relationships with key decision-makers and users within client firms
About You
- Proven experience in a client-facing sales, account management, or business development role within financial services
- Strong understanding of the UK retail financial advice market and adviser landscape
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to present solutions clearly and tailor messaging to different client audiences
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and support revenue growth
- Familiarity with regulated environments and commitment to compliance and customer outcomes
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) with strong attention to data quality
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple internal teams
- Proactive, resilient, and self-motivated
