In it for the long run – a chance to reflect and refuel

I have recently been pushing myself to run further, and whilst circling the Clifton Downs today I realised that there are two symmetrical milestones to be proud of. On a personal level, I have managed to run a PB distance of 16 miles, and today we hit a wonderful professional milestone as Flair has reached the grand old age of 16. Like the long-distance running, these 16 years have been challenging, exciting, at times painful but ultimately highly rewarding.

Our progress over the years has seen transformation across our business – improvements in technology; a significant shift in our branding and sharpened market focus; the design and build of our new office and the arrival and departure of valued employees and friends.

We’ve faced various hurdles along the way. The financial crash in 2008 was an early test of resilience – we had to dramatically scale back our team and tighten up operations. Since then we have seen a sustained decline in the number of job-seekers as employment levels increased. We’ve also adapted to the growth of in-house recruitment – proving that we can still add plenty of value whilst supporting their function.

It’s a challenging industry to operate in, but 16 years on we are still a healthy, thriving business with a passion for our work. We are proud to be the highest rated recruiter in the region on Google, with a fantastic client base. We’ve also created a talent community through our events programme that continues to inspire and motivate business leaders across the city.

Throughout our journey, some things have remained unchanged. Our values of honesty, integrity and positivity. Our culture of innovation, wellbeing and collaboration. Our commitment to exceeding expectations. Our sense of humour. Above all, our very special team bond. These foundations have stayed firm over the years and are, without doubt, the reason for our longevity.

We are determined to emerge beyond this pandemic curveball with the foundations reinforced. Our celebrations may be socially distanced for now, but glasses will be raised and some of our best and (more comic moments!) shared across the team as we toast 16 fantastic years. Spirits are high – we are refuelled and ready to push on to the next milestone.
